PDRTA MECHANICS TAKE 1ST PLACE AT STATE BUS ROADEO![]() posted on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 PDRTA mechanics Jason Evans, Danny Caulder and Maintenance Manager Ronnie Newsome took first place at the Annual SCDOT/TASC Roadeo held Saturday, October 16 at the SC Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia. The three-man team competed against mechanic crews from transportation agencies across the state. "Winning first place at the Roadeo shows what a great team of mechanics we have," said PDRTA Executive Director Janice Baroody. "With a fleet over 130 vehicles covering the 3400 sq. mile Pee Dee region and logging over 3 million miles a year, our maintenance department has to be top-notch, and it is." Bus drivers and mechanics from across the state tested their skills in various categories at the annual event. PDRTA driver Grover Curry Jr. placed 3rd in the 35 foot bus competition. The event was sponsored by the Transportation Association of South Carolina (TASC), an organization that represents the public transportation industry in the state, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and various transit-related vendors. "Through sportsmanship and pride of work, the Roadeo stands as a symbol of the important role bus operators and mechanics play in providing transit's customers with safe, reliable service," said SCDOT Deputy Secretary for Intermodal and Freight Programs Hart Baker who presented the awards with TASC President Ginger Stevens. First place winners will go on to compete at the International Bus Roadeo to be held in Memphis in 2011. * This is a printer friendly version of the original page, made to save you ink and paper. posted on Friday, January 15, 2021 PDRTA mechanics Jason Evans, Danny Caulder and Maintenance Manager Ronnie Newsome took first place at the Annual SCDOT/TASC Roadeo held Saturday, October 16 at the SC Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia.
