Improving Our Communities by Going The Extra Mile

PDRTA strives to be a good corporate citizen. By improving transportation access to work, school, shopping, and medical appointments, PDRTA helps to improve the local business economy and the quality of life in the Pee Dee. The Authority has actively coordinated transportation services throughout the 6 county Pee Dee area for over 30 years.

PDRTA was the co-founder of the Transportation Association of South Carolina (TASC) and is a sustaining member of the organization. PDRTA’s Executive Directors have served on the TASC Board of Directors and helped to promote public transportation for all of South Carolina’s citizens.

PDRTA supports local communities. PDRTA is a member of the following Chambers of Commerce:

PDRTA is also a member of the South Carolina Transportation Policy Council, the American Public Transit Association (APTA), and the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA).

PDRTA is an active member of numerous local coordinating councils and founded and hosts the Pee Dee Advisory Council, a group of human service transportation providers who meet quarterly at PDRTA to improve transportation for persons with disabilities and special needs.

PDRTA is a member of FLATS, the Florence Area Transportation Study committee and is involved with the Municipal Planning Organization (MPO) and the Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments (COG). The Authority works closely with the Florence County Planning Department to insure that transit planning is included in the FLATS.

PDRTA provides the cities and towns of the 6 Pee Dee counties with regular updates on the services it provides and the economic impact of those services. PDRTA also promotes public transportation through speaking engagements before service, educational, and civic groups, and participates in career and job fairs at various venues.
