HOW TO RIDE PDRTA FIXED ROUTE

Bus Stop

After locating your bus stop and time, plan to be at the stop 2-5 minutes before the scheduled time. Although we make every effort to follow each schedule, traffic and road conditions may cause unavoidable delays.

Flag Stops

Flag stops are for flagging down a bus, much the same way you would hail a taxi in a large city. While PDRTA does not encourage flag stops on the Florence Transit System, they can be used on occasion or on other routes where there are long stretches between bus stops. To flag down a bus, stand close to the curb and hold your arm up and out so that the driver can see you. The bus driver will make every effort to stop the bus for you to board. If you know ahead of time that you'll be using a flag stop, it's a good idea to call your local PDRTA office and notify the dispatcher, who can then let the bus driver know to watch for you. Please note that drivers need to be able to stop safely without interfering with normal traffic flow.

Boarding the Bus

Please have your exact fare or ticket/fare card ready before boarding the bus. Bus drivers carry no money and cannot make change. Half fare riders must have their identification card ready to show the driver. If you do not show your card, you will be required to pay the full fare.

If you need a transfer, please ask the driver when you pay your fare. You cannot obtain a transfer when you exit the bus. The time the transfer was issued will be printed on the transfer. You must catch the next available bus traveling the route to which you transferred before the time issued expires. When you board the second bus, give your transfer to the driver.

Riding the Bus

Please make front seats available for elderly or disabled passengers. After paying your fare, take your seat as quickly as possible. This allows the driver to start moving the bus and stay on schedule. When walking on the bus, hold on to the grab rails or seat backs. Do not move around on a moving bus. Wait until the bus stops to get out of your seat.

Please, no eating, drinking, smoking, or radios without earphones on the bus. If you use a cell phone, please do so courteously. Use care and courtesy when carrying items such as umbrellas, groceries and other packages. Help keep the bus clean and take all trash with you.

Exiting the Bus

When you wish to exit the bus, please give your driver adequate notice. Pull the bell cord at least one block before your stop. Please use the rear door to exit the bus and allow boarding passengers to use the front door. After you exit, NEVER cross the street in front of the bus. Stand away from the bus and wait until it has left before attempting to cross the street.
