PDRTA Driver Honored

PDRTA DRIVER COMMENDED BY SCDHHS

posted on Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Veteran PDRTA driver Venca Sinclair was honored by the SC Department of Health and Human Services for going above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of an SCDHHS beneficiary.

Sinclair transported a mentally incapacitated client to the home at about 5pm one evening. Upon arrival at the residence, no one was there to receive the individual. Sinclair waited with the individual for a long period of time. She contacted PDRTA officials, who in turn attempted to contact the family and then local police departments and DSS. When these attempts were unsuccessful, Sinclair remained with the client the entire time, offering comfort and support to the beneficiary. She remained with the client until approximately 11pm when a family member was located and the client safely delivered.

SCDHHS presented Sinclair with a plaque and letter of commendation for her efforts.

"We're extremely proud of Ms. Sinclair," PDRTA Director of Operations Candace Knight said. "We believe that all of our drivers would do the same under similar circumstances, and we appreciate SCDHHS' recognition."
