PECAN FESTIVAL FREE PARK AND RIDE SHUTTLES

To help alleviate traffic congestion and parking struggles for the Pecan Festival this Saturday, PDRTA will again be offering free Park and Ride shuttle bus services to the public from four locations around Florence.  Bus operations will start at 10:30 AM and run until 8:00 PM and operate at least every 20 minutes from each of the following locations.

>> Hotels around the Florence Civic Center: The public can park at the Civic Center. Hotel guests can park at their hotel. The shuttle buses will circulate from the Holiday Inn Express, Home 2 Suites, Hampton Inn and all hotels on Hospitality Boulevard. After brief stops at the Florence Mall and the former Winn Dixie, the bus will go directly to the Pecan Festival.

>> Florence Mall: The public can park at the David McLeod Blvd entrance to the Piggly Wiggly store -- 1945 W. Palmetto St. -- where shuttle buses will transport people to/from the festival.

>> Former Winn Dixie on West Evans Street: The vacant former Winn Dixie parking lot at the corner of West Evans and South Cashua Streets will be used for park-and-ride services.

>> Hallmark Square Shopping Center on South Irby Street: The public can park and access free shuttle buses to the festival in front of the Parrott's Furniture Store on the South Irby Street side of the parking lot, across the street from Auto Zone (953 S. Irby St.).

>> Florence Regional Airport: Free shuttle service will operate from the field just east of the Florence Airport entrance on East Palmetto Street. The airport address is 2100 Terminal Drive.

All locations will be highlighted by signs and tall standing street banners.

Designated drop off/pick up locations will be located near the festival perimeters for easy walking access to the event.

PDRTA Executive Director Chuck MacNeil hopes the public will take advantage of this continuing festival service feature.

"We are thrilled to again be a part of this fantastic event in downtown Florence and appreciate the support of the Florence Downtown Development Corporation, Festival Chairman George Jebaily and the Festival Organizing Committee, and the sponsorship of Station WBTW to help us provide the service," MacNeil said. "We encourage festivalgoers to take advantage of this free service and avoid the traffic congestion and need to search for precious parking downtown. It is a much easier way to get in and out of the festival and enhance the fun experience of the day."

Details on this public shuttle service can be found at  pdrta.org  and by calling PDRTA at 843-665-2227.
